Due to the cultural significance of this cave temple, it has been included on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Sri Lanka. This property, located in the country's central region, is widely regarded as Sri Lanka's largest and best-preserved cave temple complex, and it is the country's most important archaeological site. The granite towers, which can reach up to 160 meters in height, command a commanding presence over the surrounding plains. Meanwhile, the towers have over 80 caves that have been documented!

The principal attractions of the Golden Temple of Dambulla are spread throughout four caves, each of which contains a different feature. The caverns contain murals and statues that are culturally significant and that are related to the life of Gautama Buddha, which may be found inside. 153 Buddha sculptures, three statues of Sri Lankan Kings, and four statues of Hindu and Buddhist deities can all be located within these caverns, for a total of 153 statues!
